Formerly a top fashion model at 5'10'' tall, Carey was an a fan favorite of top American designers, including Calvin Klein and Ralph Lauren. Her father is a distinguished scientist who was named Scientist of the Year in 1979 at the Rocky Mountain Association of Geologists. Carey is a resident of throughout the world because of his work. As she was attending an institution called the University of Colorado, Carey started modeling for a side. A representative of Ford's model agency located in New York noticed her and was willing to assist. In 1980, she moved to France where she briefly resided in Paris and Bordeaux but returned back to New York in order to explore an acting career. She appeared on Vogue and Glamour covers. In between modeling assignments, she studied literature full time in New York University. As she studied acting in the Neighborhood Playhouse, New York, her interest in the field grew. The actress had a tiny part of Club Paradise with Robin Williams in 1986. Her leisure time is spent ski, wind surfing and rock climbing. She also enjoys white water white water rafting.
