Belknap is born in Damariscotta Maine. She is the daughter of David Belknap, and Louise Belknap. She went to Lincoln Academy in Newcastle Maine. The actress became interested in acting while attending Middlebury College, Vermont. The American Conservatory Theater granted her a degree of Master of Fine Arts. Belknap appears in a variety of television shows including Medical Investigations (related to ER & Third Watch) & The Handler. In addition, she has guest-starred as a guest on Law & Order Law & Order Special Victims, Without a Trace, Deadline as well as recurring on Deadline. Belknap appeared in the movie Alchemy and made her debut as a feature-film actor in the independent film The Reality Trap. In a joint statement to PEOPLE, the former couple said: We can confirm that we have decided to divorce and that this choice was reached mutually and in a peaceful manner.
